Anxiety Disorders
About MAPPS Treatment Services for
Anxiety Disorders
There are many types of Anxiety Disorders, ranging from
rather common disorders such as Phobias and mild Generalized
Anxiety Disorder to more severe and debilitating conditions
including Panic Disorder and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
However, the intense worry associated with anxiety disorder
doesn't have to rule a person's life. The caring and
professional staff at MAPPS can develop a treatment plan to
control the persistent thoughts and feelings associated with
anxiety disorders and pave the way to enjoying each new day!
We provide treatment services for...
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder (what's
this?)
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder is characterized by
chronic and excessive worry. When severe, Generalized
Anxiety Disorder can prohibit people from carrying out
and participating in regular everyday activities. This
type of disorder is often diagnosed when a person
experiences exaggerated worry and anxiety over ordinary
problems.
- Panic Disorder (what's this?)
- Panic Disorder is characterized by sudden and
unpredictable feelings of terror accompanied by physical
reactions such as intensified heartbeat, dizziness,
sweating, nausea, trouble breathing and numbness.
- Phobias (what's this?)
- There are three main types of phobias: specific,
social, and agoraphobia. Specific phobia is the fear of
specific objects or situations. A social phobia often
begins in adolescence and is characterized by an intense
anxiety associated with the fear of being embarrassed in
public. Lastly, agoraphobia is a fear of being in a
situation that might bring about a panic attack. People
suffering from agoraphobia are often hesitant to leave
their homes.
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (what's
this?)
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is characterized by
persistent and uncontrollable nervous feelings and
unusual ritualistic behaviors.
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (what's
this?)
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder can occur in a person
after a terribly stressful event happens to them. People
suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder often
continue to relive their ordeal in the form of
nightmares, and have persistent and terrifying thoughts
and recollections. It often results in the affected
person feeling numb and indifferent to those close to
them.
