MAPPS Outpatient Opioid Detox

Outpatient Opioid detox using Suboxone ranges from 2-6 weeks with the majority of people completing detox in 4 weeks or less. The program requires that a patient demonstrate visible signs of withdrawal before detox can begin.

Program participation requires at least a weekly participation in a therapy session. A 12-step meeting attendance may also be required.  Participation also requires consent to submit to random drug screens.

The cost for total detox is typically $500 or less. Fees must be paid prior to service.

Fees for any services not attended will not be refunded.

If a person is not in withdrawal during the evaluation, detox can not begin. The person will be sent home and another session scheduled. If more than 2 sessions are required to begin detox because the person is not in withdrawal an additional $50.00 fee will be charged.

Medication will be dispensed at times determined by staff.

Medication must be paid for prior to receiving it. No medication will be replaced due to them being lost. stolen, or destroyed. Please ensure to keep the medication in a safe and secure location.

Participation in a weekly treatment group is mandatory and medication will not be dispensed if the group is missed unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

It is inevitable that you will experience mild withdrawal symptoms at the end of your detox. This tends to be mild and transitory. Detox is just a start in your recovery process, we strongly recommend you continue treatment and support group attendance. After detox, we also strongly recommend that you consider taking Naltrexone, a medication that would prevent you from getting high on opioids. This medication should be taken for a minimum of 3-6 months, taken 3 times a week. The cost is $15.00 a week.

Protocol For Follow-Up Appointments

Follow-up appointments will be at least monthly. The activities at follow-up appointments are focused on evaluating adequacy of treatment and danger of relapse.

They should include:

  • pill counts, including reserve tablets
  • urine testing for abuse of drugs and alcohol
  • prescription of medication
  • an interim history of any medical problems or social stressors

DANGEROUS BEHAVIOR RELAPSE AND RELAPSE PREVENTION

The following behavior “red flags” will be addressed with the patient as soon as they are noticed:

  • missing appointments
  • running out of medication too soon
  • taking medication off schedule
  • not responding to phone calls
  • refusing urine or breath testing
  • neglecting to mention new medication or outside treatment
  • appearing intoxicated or disheveled in person or on the phone
  • frequent or urgent inappropriate phone calls
  • neglecting to mention change in address, job or home situation
  • inappropriate outbursts of anger
  • lost or stolen medication
  • frequent physical injuries or auto accidents
